Learning to Color in the Lines

Arin loves to color. She spends more time in the day coloring than doing any other activity. I tell her to color carefully when she colors. Today, I thought I'd help her a little more to learn how to stay in the lines when she colors. First, I went online, to this site, and printed out a simple shape. I asked Arin what shape she wanted. She picked the triangle. I put a line of glue on the sides of the triangle. Arin placed Cheerios on the glue. She had never done this before, so she wanted my help. So we did this step together, which was fun.

Once, the glue dried, Arin started coloring. I had to remind her a few times to stay inside the triangle and not color outside of the triangle. I think she did really good.

Once, she was done coloring the triangle, she wanted to color some more, so I drew a triangle on notebook paper. I told her to color in the triangle and not outside. It was a little harder to remember this time since there was no Cheerios guide to stay withing, but she still did pretty good, especially for her first attempt. Maybe we'll try a different shape tomorrow.
